Go to the ER!!!!! They will let you know if its broken/sprained and either send you to anmother docter or give you a splint!. Rest, Ice, and Elevation help sweling!. Also if you wrap it in a cloth or ace bandage for compression helps to (method known as R!.I!.C!.E!.)!. Its probably fractured, broken, or sprained!. If its your ankle more than your actual foot its probably sprained, and if its your forefoot it may be a broken/fractured metatarsel!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Check to see if it's not broken!. Keep off of it for a while and try to get some rest!. Ice was probaly the most you could have done without going to a docter!. Just in case you could put a wrap around it!. Or one off those foot socks for when you have pain in the foot!. Hope I helped :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
It could be sprained! (I sprain myself all the time!.) Keep off of it for 1-2 days, and that's it!. If you stay off of your foot for longer, you'll lose muscle!.
Bruised and swollen usually means it's broken, however it could also mean it's a 3rd degree sprain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Putting ice on it is good!. Try giving your foot a rest!. If you can still stand on it you haven't broken it!. You probably sprained it!.Keep your weight off it for a while!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
