Question: Does anyone know of a woman that took methadone while she was pregnant!?
We are trying to have a baby and am on medically prescribed methadone!. My Doctor tells me this is very safe, however, I'm scared, and would like to hear other womens' stories!. (I would truly appreciate those who feel the need to be negative and judgmental, first educate yourself before running your mouth, please) If you have gone through a similar pregnancy or know of someone who has, or you are in the medical field please respond!.!.!.
I am on methadone, because i was addicted to oxycotins when i was 18 and i am 25 years old now, and i have been clean for six years!.!. I have been going over there for six years now and i pay $13!.75 a day for it and i have for the last past six years!.!.!.
So please tell me your story or someone you know that was pregnant and taking methadone!. My boyfriend and I are getting ready to get married and have a baby together!. I have a seven year old son right now and we are going to try to have a healthy little baby!. (hopefully a girl) :)

i have seen many using that methadone,as well they kept going back too it over the drugs into their system !.!.!.still , a better way of saying it a "junkie's way to cope" on dope still!.but trying to quit!.!.!.!.but some get addicted to it too!.i am sorry to put it that way,,, but i lived near a methadone clinic!.!.but i was never on it myself!.!.but known many on it!.!.according to what dose you have too of how much drugs still your with drawling from!.!.but that to is a serious drug to try and work on trying to make a child right now!.!.your child can too become hooked or even retarded,i even seen that happen to with someone i known into our family,she said it was just crack,to have to with draw from but her child is in high school and still can't write his name or even known the date of his birth and is on ssi from not beable to even talk as well as others!.!.sure is sad you would even think of it at this time!.!.!.excuse of the drug you still take is your bussiness,but a child life is what your not thinking well of if your selfish enough to try yet!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I am a pain mngmt patient and have been for over a year!. I was told I could not get pregnant when I was taking Methadone for pain control!. So; I would definitely get a second opinion!. I don't quite understand why you are still on methadone if you are completely off the oxycotins and have been clean for 6 years; methadone is usually a temporary help to just get you clean!. But; I would personally never be on heavy narcotics while pregnant b/c your child could come out addicted and have to go through natal detox!. Which is just hurting your child!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
6 years!?!?!? Sounds like you are addicted to methadone!. I would seriously get a new doctor, especially if they put you on methadone for oxicontin addiction!. That is whack!. Real whack!.
Anyway, methadone can cause birth defects and cause the baby to become dependent and go through withdraw syndrome from methadone!.
But without being insulting you seriosuly should consider getting off methadone before having another child!. 6 years is a long, long time to be on that drug!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
