Question: Is Vicodin safe!?
I know it sounds like a stupid question!. But I was just prescribed Vicodin today for pain relief after surgury!. I heard a lot of negative things about it, like you become a addicted to it and druggies use it!. Also I heard it has some nasty side effects !.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The main side effect is normally a stomach upset that you can avoid be taking them with food!. The other possible side effect is that it make you feel a little fuzzy the first day!. That's why if you drive you want to make sure how it effects you before you drive!.
Vicodin (hydrocodone) in the strength you would have 5mg or maybe 7!.5,( vicodin ES) is really kind of at the low end of opiates are far as strength

I've been taking the same thing as vicodin (hydrocodone), except twice the strength for several years and yes I'm addicted but that's just part of dealing with pain!. The same doctor that gave me the Rx for them can get me off them when the time comes!.
As long as you don't abuse them you won't have any problems!. Your bottle probably says every 4-6 hours as needed!. You'd have to take 5mg (vicodin) for months to develope a problem!.
Don't be scared into not taking them because of the negative things you hear!. Most people don't have the slightest idea what they are talking about when it comes to opiate use!. Your doctor does, and he isn't going to give you anything that could hurt you as long as you use it as directed!.

If you take it as prescribed for JUST as long as prescribed; you will have little to no chance for addiction!. I have taken MANY narcotics over the past few years b/c of a pain condition and I have never became addicted!. Vicodin is one of the few narcotics I have been on that I've had to side effects; except for it makes me a little sleepy!. Just stick to the dosage and you should be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
This isn't a stupid question!.!.!.If the doctor prescribe them to you and you need to take them, do so!. They are prescribed for pain and if your not in pain then dont take them!. Some people get a tummy ache, some get head aches or other symptoms!. If you feel there is something wrong after you take them call your doctor to get something else to help you!. I would take them with food in your belly!. I have to take these, I'm in severe chronic pain, i have taken them for a long time normally twice a day, in the morning so i can walk and about 6 or 7 at night, none normally during the day unless the pain is so severe i have to!.!.!.I have never increased my dose and there are times i forget to take them and wonder why im hurting so bad!.!.!.Not everyone gets addicted, i have gone days with none!. Its good your asking this question, maybe if some did they wouldn't be addicted to this medication!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Yes, it's safe!. Everything you heard is true!. However, most people do not have side effects!. Most people don't become addicted!. I had surgery and the only thing that happened was the vicodin made me a little constipated!.!.!.!. However, I would rather have that than be in excrutiating pain!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Its actually the only pain medicine I trust!. I tried several and had bad effects!. I would say start out with half since they knock me on my butt!. I might take up to three per year!.!.!.Id say only take them if needed!. Anyone can become addictive if you take alot of them or abuse them!. I would say dont drive and take half to start out with!.!.!.

I took it after a major traffic accident - broke my hip!. If you take it as prescribed, you should be fine!. If you have an addictive personality, look into something else!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i took it once when i had surgury and i was fine! it really helped me with the pain! but you should probably only take one!Www@Answer-Health@Com
