I think I have sciatica, do I need to go to the Dr?!

Question: I think I have sciatica, do I need to go to the Dr!?
I'm not going to go into all the details but I have basically all the symptoms of sciatica!.!.!.and I read that the best treatment is usually NSAIDS along with things like stretching, light exercise etc!.

I HATE going to the doctor!. Missing work, feeling uncomfortable, paying a co-pay, and often times feeling unsatisfied considering I'm a hypochondriac and tend to leave with no diagnosis!.

I've only had this pain the last 2 days, but have had a few flare ups in the past!.!.!.so I just don't know if it's worth seeing a Dr!. or not!.!.!.!. is this something that's ok to self-diagnose and treat!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I think the best treatment for sciatica is physical therapy!. It will treat the mechanical and inflammatory causes of sciatica more efficiently than drugs!. Without treatment your symptoms might aggravate to having severe nerve pain, numbness and occasional walking difficulty !. I think sciatica would very slowly subside on its own!. If there's a disc bulge compressing the nerve then the nerve won't heal until the compression is removed!.
A PT would use modalities to release the compression, heal the inflammation and give you instructions for home management!.
You can do this to temporarily reduce the compression and the pain;
Lay on your healthy side with a rolled towel underneath at the level of pain (eg!. L5-S1)
Bend your upper hip and knee!. Your upper arm is bent at the elbow with your forearm on your waist!.
Rotate your thorax (don't exceed the limit) as though your looking over your shoulder!.
Another way is pulling your knees to your chest as you lay on your back!.

A PT will help you a lot more!.
Take care!. MuslimahWww@Answer-Health@Com
