They can be left in for days, weeks, even months if it's needed (people with certain diseases or injuries)!. The longer it's in the more of a chance for infection!.
So yes, overnight is fine!. But usually after a normal vaginal birth they are removed after delivery so the mom can walk around!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
