How do I break a habit of cracking knuckles?!


Question: How do I break a habit of cracking knuckles!?
Everyday, probably over 20 times, I crack numerous parts of my body!.

Sometimes I do not realize I am doing it until after I do it, but I really want to stop!. I crack the knuckles on my feet, and crack my ankles!. I crack my wrists and both knuckles on my hands!. I crack my elbows and my neck, and I also lean back to crack my back - as well as twist from side to side!. Lastly!.!. I pull my arms behind my back, and crack my shoulders!.

I realize it is also not exactly the healthiest thing to do, and how often I do it - but what is the best way to break this habit!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

ok i know how you feel I have a friend who had this same habit he even cracked his neck!. the cracking noise is the popping of nitrogen bubbles and can cause problems over a long time!.

you could replace your fixation with something else like a stress ball or thumb twiddling but why resighn yourself to thumb twiddling for ever!.

this habit can be broken with help from a doctor or councillor but I would only recommend that if all else fails!.

you must use sheer willpower and force of mind to break the habit!.
you must surround your bedroom/house/office with larger sighns that say " i will not crack my knuckles" " i will not crack my back" etc etc!.

or something similar (whatever works for you)

make a consciuos descision not to crack keep thinking about it!. its hard to do but every day it will become easier!. but do not relax until at least three weeks have past!.

There is not much evidence that knuckle cracking is bad for you!. But!.!.!. if you want to break any habit: it's almost impossible to just stop a habit!. It only works to replace it with some other less-dangerous, or less-offensive activity!.

Find something else to do!.!. twiddle your thumbs, flip a pencil in your fingers, or a coin!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

omg i know! buy one of those stress balls! the kind that you squeeze when you're usually stressed!. but in this case, squeeze it instead of cracking yourself!
