What's the really bad pain in my ankle?!

Question: What's the really bad pain in my ankle!?
On the 4th July 2008 I had an operation on the inside of my foot!. Since then, I have all bandaging removed and am now having problems with my ankle!.
When I had the operation I was told not to walk on the ball of my foot which resulted in my walking completely on the outside of my foot!.
Now I am still walking like this due to swelling on my foot!. Even when the swelling has gone down, I am still have problems putting my foot flat!.
From this, I am getting really bad ankle pains more so when I play football!.
It is often swollen and doesn't feel very stable!.
Going on holiday next week so want to know what to do about it if anyone could help!. Will go doctors, but until then!.!.!.a rough idea would be nice!. :)

Answers:
You are right to go back to your Doctors!. Pain and swelling is your own body's defencive way of telling you that something isn't right or you are doing something it doesn't like!.

If it is still swollen sit down and elevate the leg!. Then apply an ice pack (a bag of frozen peas will do) over the painful and swollen area, and leave it on for about 15 minutes!.

You were probably told to use you foot normally, after the bandages were removed, but I don't think they meant for you to go and play football straight away, it is not a good idea!. You are putting the bones, muscles and tendons in your foot and ankle under too much stress too soon!. Its something you work up to!. It may be a good idea to ask your Doctor about physiotherapy!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
