There is more than one type of pink eye, and how you treat it depends on the type!. If it is bacterial you need antibiotic ointment or drops!. There is no particular treatment for viral pink eye!. If it is an allergy that is causing your difficulty you may need anti-inflammatories or antihistamines!. Frequent hand washing is crucial to prevent spreading the virus or bacteria, depending on which type you have!. There is also something called CLARE, or contact lens induced acute red eye!. Sleeping in contacts makes the eye more susceptible to inflammation/infection!.

Pinkeye (conjuctivitis) will generally clear up on it's own after a few days!. If it is causing you considerable discomfort, or is lasting quite a while, it's always best to go to the doctor, as you never know, it could turn out to be something more serious, or complications could occur!. However, if you really dislike the doctor, you could visit a pharmacist at your local chemist!. These will be able to advise you as to what would be best to do!. You can now buy eye-drops for conjuctivitis over the counter!.
In the meantime, take anti-allergy medicines!. Cool or warm compresses will help to soothe it, as will pain-relief medicines such as ibuprofen!.

keep washing your hands!!! that is step # one!. DO NOT use contacts in the infected eye(s)!. you can use baby shampoo to wash off the crusties that form in the eye!. and you can take tylenol or advil for pain!.!.!.but it would go away so much faster if you just go to the doctor! they would give you antibiotic eye drops that are great! You can't!. It takes a prescription medication to get rid of it!. I would do it very soon too!. Pink eye is extremely contagious!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
