Bee sting what should I do?!

Question: Bee sting what should I do!?
On Saturday I got stung by a yellow jacket!. I was able to pull the stinger out, so it is not in there now!. However all around my ankle where it stung me, it is still swollen and red!. It itches like crazy, but I think that is normal!. Today when I got home from work it was swollen and very tough to the touch!. Is there something I can put on it to get rid of the swelling and redness!?
I don't really want to go to the doctor just for him to tell me that I got stung by something, because I already know that!. That is what my doctor told me before when I went in a few years ago!.

Yellow jackets do not usually lose their stinger when they sting!. it sounds to me like you were stung by a bee!. A honey bee always looses its stinger when it stings!. but never the less you still have the same problem!. as a bee keeper and have come across this problem on many occasions!. forget all the wives tales about things like ammonia, tobacco, and other topical treatments!. its just that just wives tales that tend to keep your mind off your discomfort!. However benadril can help with the itching somewhat taken soon after the sting!. Best thing to do is don't or scratch and let your body remove the toxins the way nature intended!.
