It would depend on the severity of your curve!. If you are having problems with your heart or lung function you could qualify for disability!. Some types of scoliosis (functional and neuromuscular) are caused by problems elsewhere in the body or problems with bone formation!. These underlying causes may qualify as debilitating disorders!. Talk with your physician about your concerns and disability eligibility!.
Most patients with scoliosis can live full, productive, and normal lives!. I'm as normally functioning as anyone (are any of us really "normal"!?)!. I had surgery during the summer so I never got off schedule with school!. Graduated college at 20 and have been an OR nurse for 16 years, one of the most physically demanding areas of nursing (lots of lifting and lots of standing in one place for long periods)!. I've had 2 children without difficulty (didn't even use an epidural)!. I love to travel (I don't set off metal detectors), yoga (though the fusion prevents some positions), and SCUBA dive!. I can pretty much do anything I want!.!.!.but don't tell my husband I use the scoliosis to get out of vacuuming :)

i don't think so!. i have it and the only "bad" thing that is hard to correct is sitting up straight!. i honestly don't ever think about it and i don't consider myself disabled!. so no!. and if ur wondering yes u can correct scoliosis, with a brace or surgery!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
