I sprained my ankle a few weeks ago, but it still hurts...!

Question: I sprained my ankle a few weeks ago, but it still hurts!.!.!.
About 3 weeks ago, i tripped on the statirs and i landed really hard on the side of my right foot!. It completely hurt like mad, and i came to the conclusion i had sprained it!. I have sprained my ankle before, so i know what i had done!.

About 2/3 days after i sprained it, i was able to walk easily on it with very minimal pain, and by the time a week had passed, i was walking perfectly fine!. However, if i turn my foot in the direction it was sprained in, it hurts!. And i dont know why, but it feels like there is a lump underneath the skin where i sprained it!. I examined my other foot, which i have never sprained before, and there is no similar "bony" feel as there is on the sprained foot!. If i press down on this bump, it hurts a lot!.

I can walk perfectly fine without pain, but if i accidentally turn my foot on the angle i sprained it at, it is agonisingly painful!. What can be causing this!? Is this something that will go away on it's own or is it something i should consider checking out!?

Answers:
This is quite common with slight tears in the ligaments that hold your ankle together!. A full tear would cause constant pain!. A partial tear causes "positional" or intermittent pain!. I would talk to an orthopedist to see what the severity of your ligament damage really is!. An MRI or arthroscopy would have to be done!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have an ankle sprain right now and I know exactly what your talking about!. Ankle injuries hurt so bad and you cant do anything about them until they go away!. For now I would make an appointment with your doctor or go to an urgent care center!. It sounds as if you may have a hairline fracture because alot of the time if you fracture something and you walk on it the bone heels in a weird position and it hurts if you try and touch the area that you hurt!. My dad did the same thing and never got it fixed and his ankle is still broken to this day and he did this when he was like 15 years old!.

Feel better soon!
