I guess it would depend on how old you are!.
If you're young and you've been growing a lot lately, you could have osgood schlatters, which is basically when you grow too fast for all the muscles and tendons in your knees to catch up, so they get swollen and hurt!.
Don't worry if you do, it's not a big deal; I had it!. Ice your knees for 10-15 minutes and take ibuprofen to help with the swelling!. Once your muscles and tendons have caught up, you'll be fine!

I'd go to a doctor if they hurt a lot, though!. Just to make sure!. He'll tell you the best thing to help!.

Hope that helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes-you should actually!. I had a similar problem!. My kneecaps hurt when I stood up, and it didn't get better by walking, so don't believe that you can walk it off!. It doesn't matter if you are sitting on your bike and it doesn't hurt!. If you ride long enough, it will come back and you will wake up at night with uncontrolable pain!. So I would recommend no bike riding for awhile!. Get a rag or towel and get it soaked with water, then heat it in the microwave for 10 seconds or until hot and lay it over your knee!. It helps!. Repeat it for 15 minutes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, Aerobics exercises actually does put pressure on your knees!. This is especially so when u cycle uphill or something!. Besides, this happens to running as well!. However, to derive the same aerobic benefits, you can swim in place of cycling!. If it continues to hurt, go see a physiotherapist, its better to save your leg so u can exercise in future than risk ur leg!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

That's why you have all those gears!. Just sit and SPIN!. Try to keep your cadence above 100, and forget about standing and honking up those hills or sprinting, untill the knees are completly healed!. I clocked Armstrong above 170 a couple of times!. 140 is a fast spin!. Train at 100 or so!. The knees will get better!. Also be sure your seat height is correct and you have the right lenght crank arms!. A good bike shop can help you with that!. A smooth spin will get you there faster too!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

My husband is an avid bike rider!. He says if ur seat is to high ur over extending ur knee!. ur knees should always be a little bent approx!. 160 degree angle or like 10:30 o'clock!. Or it could also be toe clips aggrivating ur knee!. He also says laughing that he really like that "Blue Goo" at Wal-mart!. It's cheap and way soothing!. Good Luck Sweets!Www@Answer-Health@Com
