do you know anything about Hydrotherapy!? has she done slow stretches before and after lifting the weights!?
check the temperature of the skin!. Since she just now strained her self do this!.
two bowls!. one with hot water (not to hot) one with cold (throw in a few ice cubs)
two face cloths in each bowl!.
start with the cold!. 3 minutes (keep changing the cloths)
then 1 minute of hot (to comfort) change!. do this for 15 minutes every hour!. (or as needed)
Next day if you still have a problem switch!. 3 minutes hot 1 minute cold!.
What you are doing is stimulating the circulation so the muscles relax and heal!. If the skin temperature around the strain is warmer than the rest of the area use cold first!. if it is the same you can use hot first!.

Only the first time right after an injury you use cold the prevent swelling!. any questions!?
