me and my twin sister just got surgery, mine on my ankle, her knee!. i got prescribed oxycodone and she was prescribed vicaden

Vicoden (hydrocodone) is a schedule 3 controlled substance while Percocet (oxycodone) is a schedule 2 (higher potential for abuse)!. Percocet is just oxycodone with aCETaminophen (tylenol) added!. Milligram for milligram, oxycodone is about 1!.5 times stronger than hydrocodone!. It is also faster acting, with the onset of relief coming in 20-30 minutes, while hydrocodone typically takes 40-60 minutes to have an effect!. The flip side is that the relief from hydrocodone lasts longer, with a half-life of 4+ hours while oxycodone is about 3!. This means that your body metabolizes the dose to the extent that you've got half as much left in your bloodstream after it reaches maximum concentration!. Having used both (as well as codeine and controlled-release, long-acting oxycodone, known as oxycontin) for chronic pain from a broken back, I find hydrocodone to be the most effective with fewest side effects!. The problem is that hydrocodone is only available compounded with acetaminophen while oxycodone can be prescribed without it!. The tylenol is the real poison, toxic to liver and kidneys, especially at the dosage and intervals required for my pain!. So I stick with the oxycontin controlled release and use oxycodone for "breakthrough" pain!. This has become the normal protocol for long-term opiate therapy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Vicodin is the weakest!. You have to be very careful with oxycodone!. It is a very strong pain killer and highly addictive!. It's nickname is actually hillbilly heroin!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
