Answers:
In most cases, scoliosis is not painful!. Additionally, there are other causes of back pain, which your doctor will want to look for as well!.

But you can try pain medicines, alternating between heat and cold applications, massage, and gentle stretching!. If you don't have gel cold packs available, bags of frozen corn or peas work well!. They won't melt on you and you can refreeze them!. Remember to never put hot or cold packs directly on your skin!. Long periods of inactivity in bed are not helpful and may worsen the pain!.

You need to see a spine specialist, either neurosurgeon or an orthopedic surgeon!. I don't trust chiropractors!. I had my back manipulated once or twice, it always hurt worse after they were done with it!. As a nurse, I've also cared for a few patients who required surgery after seeing a chiropractor because the chiropractor actually caused nerve damage!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You could see a pain management doctor, but it may take more time to get an appointment than it will take to get your brace!. So, over-the-counter pain meds like Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, etc!.) may be the only choice you have!. They probably won't work either so you may be out of luck!.

If its possible for you to get an appointment with your scoliosis specialist, he/she may be able to give you a prescription for enough pain meds to get you through the days until you are braced!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you have already been to a chiropractor and you are still have pain, then I suggest going to a massage therapist or someone who gives acupuncture treatments!. Acupuncture treatments is with the small needle insertions into the skin!. It is not painful, just a little scary at first because it has to treat with small needles!. One of the treatments I had, there was a little bit of pain, but the acupuncturist said it was because my period was coming and my pain level was higher at that time of month!. Massage therapy is great!. If the first massage therapist is to rough with you, then find another who doesn't give a real hard and rough massage on your body!. Not all massage therapists are the same!. If the massage is very comfortable and relaxing, then thats the one that you'll want to stay with!. ENJOY YOUR MASSAGE!Www@Answer-Health@Com
