For me no, it depends on how high your tolerance for pain is!. It felt like an injection so relatively painless

I suggest doing one side, then wait about a week for the swelling to go down and do the other side!. That way you can at least eat and drink out of one side of your mouth without pain!. As for the actual piercing part!? Not too bad if you just relax!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
My brother got his done with the studs and his skin grew over the back of the stud!. He had to have an X shape cut in his lip and get them cut out =/ But apparently for some people it's normal!?
