Question: Can the effects of Percocet and Oxycodone be the same!?
Now with having chronic pain for over 5 years and being permanently disabled I am concerned about the amount of acetaminophen in the percocet but as bad as this sounds with the Percocet I get a "boost" of energy and it seems during that time is when I can be a use full husband around the house with chores, cooking etc etc!.!.!.!.Can Oxycodone offer the same effect!? I like that it has no acetaminophen in it for the salvation of my liver but I Don't want to be a couch potato if the Oxycodone will just numb me out!.!.!.Thank you for your info and helpWww@Answer-Health@Com

yes these medications are the same exact thing only the oxycodone doesn't have any acetaminophen in the medication making it much safer for your liver!. and no you will not become a couch potato from oxycodone!. i take it myself and i know what you mean about the boost of energy!. it allows me to feel well enough, to get past the pain and discomfort and to be able to feed the cats, do dishes, work part time, go to a movie and so on!. things i would otherwise not be able to do!. i have been in pain chronic and acute for 27 years!. i have been on and off meds!. physical therapy, biofeedback, tens unit, accupuncture and so on and so on!. sure a few things helped a bit but they helped oh so much more along with the pain medication!. sure i'm addicted! i'm addicted to being able to get out of bed, to being able to socialize with my friends and family!. i'm addicted to being able to go to work albeit part time and just plain ole being able to live my life!. sure addiction can be an issue, if you let it!. however, as long as you are functioning than the medication is necessary and beneficial to you!. if you think about it just about anything in this life can cause determent to our bodies!. for instance, they found huge amounts of jet fuel in the breastmilk of women! just from breathing the air! so, what!? are women who breast feed supposed to stay home on pure oxygen!? sorry, i just get irked when i hear someone say we ought to be more concerned about the possibility of harm to our bodies from narcotics than rather we want to live well or not!. i understand there are many addicts out there but just because we need the medication that causes problems for so many doesn't mean keeping people in chronic pain off narcotics will solve societies problem with addicts!. i wanted to say all this incase you became concerned about taking oxycodone!. it comes in 5, 15, 30, 60mg's that i am aware of!. and the long acting oxycodone comes in 10, 20, 40, 80 and 160mg's!. one brand name for this is oxycontin!. i apologize if my rambleing was a bit much!. i just so much do not want you to ever trade having to suffering for fear that you're doing harm to your body!. eat a twinkie that'll do ya some harm, lol!. and no offense to the lady who gave you the answer before me!. i've been on more pain medication than most pharmacist have seen in a lifetime and my liver function and all are just fine!. gd lk!. hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just curious did you read the information sheet they gave you with the prescription!? Percocet and Oxycodone is the same thing, genetic!.
Your worried about the acetaminophen causing liver damage, what about damage from the percocet!. If you've been on it for awhile does the doctor run yearly liver levels-they should!. One of the reasons people get addicted to opiates is do to the fact it causes feelings of well being and euphoria!. There are other medications that your doctor can switch you too and then switch back and forth somewhat less of a chance of getting addicted!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
