Answers:
Appendix is lower right quadrant!. Whether this needs a trip to the ER is something you really should call your doctor and ask!. But before you call, your doctor is going to ask:

Has this happened before
Does he have a fever (so take his temperature before you call)
When did it start
When has he eaten
What did he eat
Are there any lumps that can be felt through the skin
Any hot spots
When has he last had a bowel movement or passed gas
Was his last bowel movement before or after the pain started
Was it normal, abnormal!?

That's just some of the questions that the doctor will likely ask on the phone and will surely ask if your husband sees the doctor in the morning, or if he goes to the ER tonight!.

Call your doctor and let him evaluate before you go to the ER or try to give your husband any over the counter or home remedies!.

It sounds like a Hernia which is essentially a rupture usually noticed as a lump, commonly in the groin or the umbilical region!. It appears when a portion of the tissue which lines the abdominal cavity (peritoneum) breaks through a weakened area of the abdominal wall!.

This can lead to discomfort as the hernia enlarges and can sometimes be dangerous if a piece of intestine becomes trapped ('strangulated') inside!.

He definalty needs to be seen, but can probablly wait for tomorrow, unless he is having severe pain!.

BTW: Just so you have correct info!.!.the appendix/gallbladder are in the Right upper quadrant!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Possible diverticulitis!.!.!.has the pain been getting worse throughout the day!? If your husband is in a lot of pain I would bring him to the ER!. If he is having a fever or feeling nauseous and has abdominal swelling then it is definitely necessary!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
