My son has been bitten or stung?!

Question: My son has been bitten or stung!?
My son has been Bitten/stung by something on his ankle, But his ankle has become very painful and swollen to the point that he is having trouble walking on it!.
I have given him some piriton and calpol, also phoned NHS direct who informed me to only go to the doctors when the swelling becomes very bad!.
My question is when should I worry the pain is very bad at the moment and is there anything else I can do to treat this as NHS direct were very unhelpful!.

Please any information will truly helpWww@Answer-Health@Com

I would just take him up to accident and emergency!. They will apply cream and a pressure bandage to reduce the swellingWww@Answer-Health@Com

I often get allergic reactions to being bitten
mine normally swell up HUGE go rock hard and the middle gets filled with puss
just go to the doctors anyway it's not wrong to be worried about your son, the doctor will probably have some sort of cream for it Www@Answer-Health@Com

He may be having an allergic reaction, get him to A&E just to be sure!.

When I was younger I was bitten by fire ants in Florida and had a bad reaction, all i needed was a cortizone injection!. I still shudder at that memory!Www@Answer-Health@Com

If it is quite swollen and your son cannot walk on it, I would get him into the doctors office or the ER as soon as you can!. Do you know what bit him!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

research what sort of bite or sting it is, for example a horse fly bite swells up a lot but soon goes down!. If you google it i'm sure you will get some site that tells you about bites and stings!. So more than likely no need to worry :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Bathe it as often as you can with salt water, or dab with neat vinegar which will reduce any swelling, for now, maybe give his/your doc a ring and ask them, youll get more info there!Www@Answer-Health@Com
