Answers:
You cut the circulation off to it!. You probably woke up because your body told you that you were killing your leg (literally)!. Your leg is painful and "heavy" because the muscles weren't getting any oxygen to them!.

Edit - I honestly do not think she has a herniated disk!. To prevent them from happening, you can sleep with your legs on a pillow, or just on a flat surface, don't hang them over the edge of the couch or raise them over your heart (as in laying down with your feet overly elivated)Www@Answer-Health@Com

If this has lasted more than 10 or 15 minutes it is likely a bulging disc caused by the bad position you were in (and poor posture before that)!. Anyway!.!.!. check out mckenziemdt!.org for a trained therapist that can help you move the disc back in!. When it moves away from the back and into the calf that is not good, it is more bulged or herniated than if it was just hurting in your back!. Called the peripheralization/centralization phenomena!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
