Im very worried that this is really going to hurt!. Can anyone put me at ease please!. Also i know this injection may not even work! Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I do not want to lie to you and say that this will not hurt because it will it won't be agonizing like you think but it will be uncomfortable!. What will happen is:

The doctor uses special radiology equipment like an ultrasound or a fluoroscopy machine to find the joint space of the hip!.

They will then inject the cortisone into the hip joint space!.

This should only take a few minutes if it is done by a Doctor with experience your pain should be minimal and you should feel some relief in a few hours!. Some people suffer with more acute arthritic pain afterwards however this does clear up in a few days!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know if it will help or not but One of my friends, who was very young had one in her knee and it did not help her!. I had one in my neck to repair scar tissue from mole removal and yes they do hurt, not exactly when they put it in and not totally during, but after it was very painful and i only had a small dose for a small area!. It didnt hurt for me the day after though, just the day of!. Im sorry if i did not put you at ease!. I havnt heard of any one with a shot in the hip so im not totally sure put i do know that in general they are a little painful but probably not as bad as the pain you are already having!. I hope I helped you some!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Not true on the hip replacement surgery!. I know someone that I work with who is 37 and has had 2 hip replacements and 2 knee replacements due to Rheumatoid Arthritis!.
Get a 2nd opinion if you're in that much pain!. You can only have the injection once every 3 months!. Most ins!. companies don't cover the injection, but will cover the surgery!.

The injection will burn for a short time at the injection site, but that's it!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Everyone is different!.!.!.so it might work for u!. I found I was allergic to the preservatives in cortisone & had some really bad side-effects which were painful so wouldn't have another injection!. I have tried heaps of things over the years & have found compressive thermal hip support garments helped me heaps without the problems of meds!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Dont be afraid to get it because it will sting but the benifits are well worth that little sting!.
I have cronic back pain and i get those shots every three months as a matter of fact i'm due to get the pain block next Monday and i am looking forward to it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had to get one in my shoulder, and it was fairly painful! I mean, its not your usual shot!. My sister has major knee problems and she got one about a month ago!. She said it was pretty bad, but of course it doesn't last long!. Soreness will most likely be a problem!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

have to be honest here, i had some done in my back and the pain afterwards for about a week was awful worse than the pain i had been treated for, oh and they only lasted me 2 weeks so im back to square oneWww@Answer-Health@Com

The injection is painful, but the relief is worth it!. I've had them in my spine, hip, and elbow!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

when u1st get the shot it will hurt & it will last for @ least 2-4 mths & then if u need another 1 u can get itWww@Answer-Health@Com

:O its going to be sooo painful!.!. some people faint from the pain!.!. wow!.!. your brave Www@Answer-Health@Com

You will survive the cortisone injection!. Not the most comfortable procedure but bearable!. I hope it works for you!. But be aware that these injections help some of the people some of the time but not everyone all the time!. Also be aware that you can't have repeated injections and expect them to continue to work (or work for very long)!. In addition, steroids tend to trash the joint so they are only good as a temporary solution!. They do not help your hip get better and may even make it worse!. They only relieve your pain for awhile allowing you to bide time until deciding to go ahead with the surgical solution, a total replacement or resurf!.

The best long-term solution is either total replacement or, if you qualify, hip resurfacing!. And you might be surprised at the young age at which some patients do have these surgeries, especially resurfacing!. For more:
