With all the privacy rules, what your doctors office did was wrong!. The only way it would of been correct would be if in all the papers you signed for them if one of them was a release of information to your wife!.I know my doctor has a special sheet that asks if they may contact my home and who they can talk to!. My question is, did they even ask your wife to identify herself when they left the message!. I know different states have different rules, but if I were you, I would call your doctors office and talk to the office manager and voice my complaint!. I would also ask for a copy of your privacy rules that legally you have had to sign in the office!.Sometimes in all the stuff they give you at your first appointment, there is a paper that says, that they will be calling your home to inform you of changes, and if you sign that paper, it lets them off the hook!. If this is a new appointment with a new doctor that you have never seen, legally the rules get sticky!.!.!.because you have no contract with that office!. Fonz, hope you are ok!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think its wrong that he did that!. I'm a doc and I always ask patients if it's ok to leave voicemails or speak with family!. He meant you no harm, but you definitely need to make it clear that your health matters are private and he should only speak to you!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm not so sure if this falls under HIPPA, Health Information Patient Privacy Act!. However, I have added a link for you to check it out and see if it would help you!.

I'm sorry that happened to you!. However, I'm sure that it was an honest mistake!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
