i jammed my ring finger while playing around with my buddies!.!.!.it hurted for about 6 ***** MONTHS!. i also thought it was broken too but i could still move it but after a certain point i felt a lot of pain!.!.!.so after a few months!.!.it got all better!. but take xrays to be sure/Www@Answer-Health@Com

Even though it may hurt, if you can bend it then it's not broken!.

Your dad is probably right, it sounds like you did in fact jam it!. Which can be pretty painful!. So it's no wonder you though it might be broken!.

Ice it for 20 minutes at a time and buy a finger splint at CVS, or anyplace like that, that way you can immobilize it and it will heal quicker!.

Good Luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The only way to surely know if it is broken is to have it examined and x-rays taken!. If it has been casted, I assume a doctor has seen it and determined it is broken!? !.!.!. If you are unsure, go to the ER and have it evaluated!. That is one bone you don't want to heal "wrong" because you use your thumb for so many different things! Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The easiest way to tell if a bone is broken is if it twitched after you hurt it!. If it twitched after you hurt it, then it is broken!. If you can't remember and it is still hurting and is really bruised and swollen tomorrow, go get it x-rayed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would consider talking to a doctor!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
