Question: Recommendation for a good non perscription pain reliever!?
I have severe scoliosis at my lower back, and the pain is becoming worse over the last few months!. The doctors can only offer sending me to a Pain Management Specialist and a Physical therapist!. What can I take that is not prescribed for my pain!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you have severe scoliosis and your pain is becoming worse, OTC meds won't touch your pain!. In fact, the lightest narcotic pain med, maybe darvocet, won't touch your pain either!. You need to become comfortable with narcotics at a strength that works, whatever that is for you!.

Over the counter pain medications include non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAID's), such as aspirin, ibuprofin (Motrin, etc!.) and naproxin sodium (Aleve)!. All work similarly, so try anyone at the recommended doses, and if you don't have success, try another!.
The other alternative is Tylenol, which is analgesic but not anti-inflammatory, and is easier on your digestive system!. That's about it for the OTC stuff!.
Most of these medicines can be safely taken at larger doses for a very short time, and NSAID's are not recommended for long term because they're so harsh on the digestive system!.

I think you should definitely go to the pain mngmt doctor!. They can offer you many options that aren't medication related! You could also just go to the PT once and ask for at-home exercises!.
