Back pain sucks!. I had a bad muscle pull in my lower back a number of years ago!. Those muscles tighten up on occasion !.!.!.just seems to happen out of nowhere!. The pain is intense!. I learned to apply an ice pack to wherever it is sore!.!.!. I do this as early as possible and it works!.!.!. it not only helps reduce the inflammation, but seems to help loosen the muscles and reduces the pain to almost nothing!. If I keep at it with frequently icing and then a little walking!.!.!.followed by more icing!.!.!.!. the event goes away MUCH faster than using high-powered muscle relaxants!.

p!.s!. It took me years to convince my wife that applying ice to sore muscles and joints, actually feels good!.!.!. now we argue about who gets the icepack!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Memere,

You might want to try taking another kind analgesic that may contain opiates!. Here is one to consider other than codeine: Tramadol (INN)

Unlike most other opiates, Tramadol is not considered a controlled substance in many countries (the US and Australia, among others), and is available with a normal prescription!. And yes, the legal status is prescription only, so you have to consult your physician and see if this is a right drug for you!.

If not Tramadol, I would suggest that you consider a cannaboid called Dronabinol!. But if you want to stay safe, stay with your herbs!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try a medication with codeine in it - often it's combined with tylenol in medications available OTC!. You can get tablets with a higher dose of codeine on prescription from your doctor, which it sounds like you might need to do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I agree, Tramadol is a good med!. I have 5 bulging and 1 torn disc!. This is what I take and it's acceptable!. I hate drugs as well, but I had to buck up and take the dive in order to operate every day!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like to me there is no OTC meds that will take away your pain!. You may need to get a prescription medication!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
