Glucose
Thyroid function tests
Gamma GT
Many thanks for any info!

Answers:
FBC= Full Blood Count!.
Diff= include a differential white blood count, splitting the white cells into the number of each type!.
Electrolytes= levels of blood ions, sodium, chloride, potassium bicarbonate and urea!.
Liver function test refers to liver enzyme levels, there are about 8 of these Gamma GT being one of the most sensitive!.
Bone profile+ calcium, phosphate and alkaline phosphatase
Glucose= blood sugar
Thyroid function= these days when screening refers to TSH, thyroid stimulating hormone, rather than full thyroid screen!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Complete blood count (CBC) or FBC(full blood count as known in UK) with differential will also include:

Neutrophil granulocytes ;Lymphocytes ;Monocytes;Eosinophil granulocytes; Basophil granulocytes!.

Electrolytes

Electrolytes exist in the blood as acids, bases, and salts (such as
Sodium, Na+;Calcium, Ca 2+;Potassium, K+;Chloride, Cl-;Magnesium,Mg2+; Hydrogen phosphate HPO42?, and hydrogen carbonate HCO3!.

It is important for the balance of electrolytes in your body to be maintained, because they affect the amount of water in your body, blood pH,(acid-base balance) muscle action, and other important processes!.

Liver function tests, or LFTs, include tests for bilirubin, a breakdown product of hemoglobin, and ammonia, a protein byproduct that is normally converted into urea by the liver before being excreted by the kidneys!.Enzymes that are often measured in LFTs include gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT); alanine aminotransferase (ALT or SGPT); aspartate aminotransferase (AST or SGOT); and alkaline phosphatase (ALP)!. LFTs also may include prothrombin time (PT), a measure of how long it takes for the blood to clot!.!.

Bone Resorption Assessment (Urine)
It would be hard to overemphasize the importance of early identification of bone loss!. The Bone Resorption Assessment should be part of an overall reproductive health evaluation for any woman over thirty, the age when bone loss begins to accelerate!. If bone loss is detected early enough, interventions can arrest loss and protect against osteoporosis and bone fractures in the years following menopause!. By measuring current bone turnover, this profile can help patients avoid future bone loss and fractures while monitoring the effectiveness of preventative treatments such as calcium supplementation!. ?This test:

Identifies elevated levels of bone loss before excessive damage has occurred!.

Enables regular testing of women for resorption rates, allowing treatment intervention at its most effective-before bone loss has occurred!.

Monitors the effectiveness of calcium supplementation to slow bone loss and rebuild bone

Glucose -Glucose

Also known as: Blood sugar, Fasting blood sugar, FBS, blood glucose, Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT or GTT), Urine glucose
Formal name: Blood Glucose and Urine Glucose
Related tests: Urinalysis, Insulin, C-Peptide, A1c, Microalbumin

Can be tested as FBS ( fasting blood sugar) or oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT / GTT)!.

Thyroid Function tests;

LABORATORY TESTS USED TO ASSESS THYROID FUNCTION

? Serum TSH concentration
? Serum total T4 concentration
? Serum total T3 concentration
? Estimation of the serum free T4 (or T3) concentration

Gamma-GT- Gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase or GGTP; or GGT - measures the amt of the enzyme GGT in the blood!. This is the one of the three enzymes tested in LFT (liver function test!.) This test is used to detect diseases of the liver, bile ducts, and kidney!. It is also used to differentiate liver or bile duct disorders from bone disease!.

GGT is measured in combination with other tests!. In particular, the enzyme ALP is increased in liver and bile duct disease as well as in bone disease!. GGT is elevated in liver and bile duct disease, but not in bone disease!. So, a patient with an elevated ALP and a normal GGT probably has bone disease, not liver or bile ducts disease!.

Why didn't you just ask the nurse who gave them to you!?!? Glucose is blood sugar and it should not be too high or too low!. Electrolytes are like!.!.!. you need them for energy and to regulate certain functions!. If your electrolytes are out of whack, for example, you could pass out maybe and them being out of whack could be an indication something is wrong!. Your thyroid regulates your weight and metabolism and if it is malfunctioning, they need to know that!. Liver function tests probably measure the amount of bilrubin or other by-products of the liver!. The liver is used for the body's waste management, so too much or too little of something could indicate a problem!. Bone profile!.!.!. not sure about that, other than maybe they are checking calcium or mineral levels!. Gamma is probably gamma globulin but I can't remember what that is!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

FBC - is a full blood count - looks for things like aneamia

Diff - is a differential blood test that looks at white blood cells

electrolytes - checks pottassium, sodium and chloride and bicarbonates (usually called us and e's) to make sure the overall chemical balance of your body is in the right range

liver function - does just that checks your liver is working

bone profile - checks the density of bone, as you get older bone is reformed and reabsorbed, making htem heavier and denser!. a bone profile will check the bone markers in your blood to make sure that they are in line with what should be happening for your age

glucose - checks sugar levels to determine if you have diabetes

thyroid function - checks your thyroxin levels, makes sure your thyroid is producing the right amount of thyroxin

gamma gt - checks a specific enzyme thats forms and breaks down glutathoine which is a chemical made by your body and helps protect your cells from toxins

the last website is a really good one - not a doc or nurse just looked on web found all the answers there!Www@Answer-Health@Com
