Answers:
Increase your potassium intake (banana possibly)

Stretch out your muscles before bed!.!.!.really good!. Spend a good amount of time just pointing and flexing to get the blood flowing and the muscles will stretch out!.

Drink plenty of water!.

When you are actually going through the cramp take 5 deep and long breaths!. This helps relieve the cramp more quickly!.

Try Icy Hot on the muscle once it is over!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know what you mean!. Sometimes the pain is so crippling you wake up screaming and even though my husband tried massaging sometimes you just have to get up and walk or stretch and flex it ow ow owt!. Used to get it after long hours on my feet on hard floors when waitressing but I know alot of nurses get this too!. But after awhile most people get used to it or they have their own lil tricks!.

Maybe a warm bath and then a little stretching before bedtime may help relax your muscles after a long day or workout though there is nothing like a good massage before bed whenever you can!. I know it isn't easy when you come home exhausted and just want to plop yourself in bed and sleep but I think it would definitely help to give yourself a little relaxation time first before conking out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It probably is a deficiency in potassium, so bananas might help, or you could take a supplement!. Calcium also helps; these are called electrolytes and the lack of them can cause neural impulses to go haywire, resulting in cramps, or even seizures!

The question is: WHY do you have a deficiency!? Sometimes it happens when you're dehydrated, either to extreme exercise, heat or not drinking enough fluid!. Evaluate your lifestyle and make some changes!.

Also, vigorous exercise without stretching afterward can often cause cramps!. Always stretch! It's actually a good idea to do anyway, since tension might also be causing these things!.

Do you wear high heels!? (I forgot to check if you're a girl or guy!)!. Those can really do a number on your legs, since they shorten the back muscles and tendons, causing!.!.!.cramps!

Below is a very good article about nighttime cramps and how to prevent and alleviate them!. There's a video or picture of how to stretch, too!.
