Answers:
When you are under anesthesia, you don't feel anything!. They will take you in the operating room, put an oxygen mask over your mouth and nostrils!. You'll have an IV put in before going to the operating room!. There is just a small pinch when the needle is put in, and they tape it to your arm and start an IV liquid!. It's through that IV that they give you something to calm you down and relax you!. When you are in the operating room, they will put a sedative in and when the procedure is down, you'll wake up!. Won't be any pain at that time!. They will give you a pain pill prescription to take when things start to hurt, maybe later in the evening or the next day!. You don't say what kind of surgery you are having, but it depends on what they do that will determine the extent of the pain!. They usually prescribe Vicodin which is strong and will also make you sleepy, does me anyway!. The IVs are not that bad, and why you are afraid of needles must have came from a bad experience in your younger days!. Don't be afraid of them, that will only make things worse, just think of how much better you'll be after-wards, and don't watch when they put the needle in your vein!. Wishing you the very best young man or lady whichever you are, on your procedure and hope all goes well!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

NO need to freak out!. It feels neat going under anasthesia, and I'd recommend you read about anasthesia, and your procedure!. Google is a great place to go for that!. For me, I usually close my eyes right after they put the mask over my face, and continue to listen to the sounds in the OR!. Right before I go out, everything seems really high and far away, like it doesn't matter very much, and I feel fine, as light as a feather!. I believe that an anasthesiologist on here once said "Hey, think of it as getting a free high!" It's true!.

As for the IV, they usually numb up your hand (if they do it there), before they do the needle!. But even if they don't, the pain is very temporary, and then you can put your mind on other things!. It's not very hard to do at all!. And you can either opt to have them warn you before you get stuck, or, if you're like me, and you don't want to know when you're going to be stuck, you can also have them NOT warn you!.

When you wake up, you may feel queasy, or not, it depends from one expirence to the next, and you're going to have a sore throat!. Not talking for a while will help with that part, but the sore throat is unavoidable!. And for cripes sakes, use the crutches after the surgery! I made that mistake and had to have another surgery as a result of not using them!. Things will be OK, and you're in my thoughts!. :-) G/L!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've had two ankle surgerys before!. My first surgery I didn't know what to expect I was scared as hell!. The iv isn't scary all they do is get a little neddle and put in into either a vien in your hand or near your elbow, it just feels like a pinch!. Then after that they put the anesithia into the iv and you go strait to sleep without remembering anything!. The next time you wake up you'll be in the recovery room thinking to urself is it already over!. Its kind of crazy but its a cool experience i guess!. Just try to stay postive and not get to worried about it!. Good Luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Its nothing, don't look at the needle and you will hardly feel a thing!. Think of the needle as just getting pinched!. Trust me, you'll want the anesthesia!. Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
