Upper Trapezius Muscle Pain Help?!

Question: Upper Trapezius Muscle Pain Help!?
I pulled my upper trapezius muscle on my left side about 2-3days ago and now it hurts to take a deep breathe or twist in a certain way!. I believe this is due to the fact that it is inflamed more so then "pulled"!. Also after I sleep, the second I wake up "any" movement what-so-ever is painful!. Does anyone know of any exercises I could do to help, or should I just get an icyhot patch for the back and call it a day!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Without examining you it would be impossible to state whether it is the upper trapezius or possibly the levator scapula that is involved!. In either case the answer to this is ice!. Place ice on the area for fifteen to twenty minutes per hour!. After the ice has been used try to turn the head away from the pain!. Never move into the pain just keep turning away from it!. Use a soft cervical collar if necessary to rest the muscles when sleeping of during the course of the day!. It will take a few days but stay with the ice and the pain will stop!. If after a few days it has not stopped see a physical therapist!. They will work on the area and get it to relax and then work on strengthening it!. Also watch your posture!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Use what you said or some other type of patch or topical analgesic like Pain Bust R, Bengay etc!.!.!. And then rest that muscle until the pain goes away!. If the pain is still there an unusual amount of time, I would advise seeing a doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
