If the splint is uncomfortable, you can tape it to the finger beside it!. If it feels too tight, then it is!. Just make it tight enough that you can't bend either finger that you have taped!. And just wait for the appointment, but all that they are going to do is give you another splint!.!.!.unless it's bad enough that you need to have surgery!. Other than that there really isn't much that they can do about broken fingers!. Good luck though!. Oh and also take ibuprofen (acetaminophen) to help with any swelling!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you can go to one of those emergency clinics and see someone asap - if it is in fact broken you should not wait that long!. In the meantime, you can wrap two fingers together with gauze or an ace bandage to help stabilize!. Just hold the two fingers together and wrap together at least three times, then take the rest of the bandage and wrap it around your hand in a zig-zag manner!. Keep it on when you sleep because your hand can move around a lot during sleep and your don't want to put it under your head or twist it!. Wrapping needs to be snug but not tight, so if you fingers get cold or turn color loosen the bandage!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've never broken any limb, finger, etc!. but I've been to ER's for other emergencies!. Doesn't a broken finger qualify as an emergency!? Maybe it doesn't but that is surprising to me!. For my medical plan members can call the 24 hr Nurse phone line to ask questions (such as the ones you have) or get instructions such as telling you to go straight to the ER as soon as possible!. If a 24HR phone line is not an option, if I were in your situation I would call again to the medical office where you have the Wednesday appt!. and ask them what should you do about your finger in the meantime so as to not do anymore damage to it!. sorry, best I can give you since I'm not in the medical profession!.
