Question: Can you get Deep_Vein_Thrombosis from sitting at a computer for long periods!?
Answers:
Well yes, if it is for a prolonged period of time!. (You hear about people developing blood clots from traveling!.!.!.!.long car/plane trips!.) In this case, blood clots can develop in your legs if you do not move them causing venous stasis!. When blood pools (stops moving from inactivity) in your legs, the platelets then begin to stick to eachother that causes clots!. This can involve the deep venous system or superficial veins!. The risk of DVT is that the clots can break off and travel up to your lungs which can be potentially life-threatening!. If you sit at a desk for long periods of time, it is wise that you at least get some movement in your legs every hour, if not more!. Try going for short walks, but if you can't leave your desk, try rotating your feet in circles or flexing your calf muscles!. This will force the blood to continue "moving" which will significantly reduced the liklihood of developing Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
