OK, I just got 7 stitches on my chin. I need some tips to dealing with these. Ca!

Question: OK, I just got 7 stitches on my chin!. I need some tips to dealing with these!. Can you help!?
Like I said before, there are 7 stitches in my chin!. I have to take a shower tonight, but honestly, I can't get the courage to take off the band-aid and, like the nurse said, dab it with a cloth to clean it!. And I am serious about this, I am scared to death! They don't get taken out until Monday and my mom says they are pretty gross!. And it still hurts!

What can I do to get over this, and when will the pain stop!?

Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ouch! Don't get them real wet!. I just had stitches in my neck and I would remove the band aid, clean the area with alcohol, put some triple antibiotic salve on them & replace the band aid!. Those were the instructions from my Doc!. They told me to leave it covered for 3-4 days but clean the area & apply the salve daily!. That helps clean any blood that may still be there!.
The pain, it gets better, what it is, the stitches are healing and they start to pull & itch!. Have someone help you take the band aid off n keep it clean!. It's really not that bad, just kinda gross!. Hope you're feelin better real soon! =o`) Www@Answer-Health@Com

You are going to have to deal with removing the bandage!. Sorry, someone will have to do it!. I would try a little peroxide or wet Q-tip to loosen the band aid adhesive!. It is not the water so much that will harm the stitches/sutures rather though water getting in-between the skin (where it is sutured) causing potential problems such as infection, scaring, etc!. Especially on the facial area, one would want the least scaring possible!.

Take a little clean water and dab the area, to remove the drainage that occurred!. One can do this lightly, then place a new dressing unless instructed to allow air to it!. Be sure to monitor for increasing redness, pus and other signs of infection!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

That really stinks!. What did you do!? Stitches themselves don't hurt but, the cut sure will! Take some tylenol of advil to help with the pain!. Be careful not to get it soaking wet though!. Just dab it with a clean wet cloth and try not to bang it! It won't hurt when they take the stitches out so don't worry too much!. If this is your first time getting stitches, you are very lucky! When you look at it, you will see that it is not that bad!. It is kind of cool to see once the nervousness goes away about the actual emergency!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Whoa bro! Sorry to here that!

I once had stitches, but it was not the thread kind, it was the staples kind!. And having water hit it was not pleasant at ALL!

But this was years ago when I had my child, and they cut me open to take my child out, and the nurse would not let me go without a shower the next day!.

Wish I had advice for you! But I hope you get the answers you need!
