Try doing these exercises and the problem usually goes away!. The problem comes from one muscle not being strong enough and the resulting pain is what you are feeling!. For a stretch sit on your heels with the feet pointing out straight behind you!. Lift one knee up off the floor as high as possible for a few seconds and then switch legs!. Do about three to five of those!. This next one really works the best!. Assume a long sitting position with the knees straight!. Have the muscles of the front of the foot pull the foot up towards the knees!. Hold that position for a few seconds and relax!. Do that about ten times especially right before going to bed and when getting up in the morning!. Also do it right before running and immediately after!. Once the technique of the movement has been learned it can be done standing or sitting!. Use ice on the area for fifteen to twenty minutes per hour!. That should solve the problem!. If the running shoes are older than three months get new ones and make sure that they fit correctly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Unfortunately, shin splints only getting better with rest, but what you are doing will help with pain management!. I would try using heat now, since basically the initial injury has happened I have heard that after 24 hours you should try heat!. So put a heating pad on for 20 minutes!. You might also want to consider if you have available in your area doing aquatic aerobics, this will help stretch things out, or if you have a whirlpool at your local gym I suggest using that before and after workouts!. Continue with the ibuprofin, and try upping the dosage to 600mg!. about an hour before you start your workout!. Then keep it down to the normal dosage the rest of the day!. I also suggest taking a B vitamin called L-Lysine, it helps with tissue repair!. You might also consider checking on going to a shop where they help find the appropriate shoe for your foot and step, there are places that will find the shoe that fits you best!. If you can't afford to do that then at least get some gel inserts to help cushion the step, and when running stay on the grass as much as possible, concrete is hard on shins!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I used to get them when I played football!. We had practice on a very hard field (which I think was the cause)!. New shoes (insoles) helped a lot, but I still had to battle with them all season!. I also made sure I was very hydrated!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
