Eye in horrible pain on airplane?!

Question: Eye in horrible pain on airplane!?
Ok I was on a flight earlier today and was really tired!. I got on the plane and pretty much went straight to sleep!. I woke up near the end of the flight before we landed!. I opened my eyes and 5 seconds later BAM my eye felt like someone stuck a knife in it and was tearing up alot this hurt soooooo bad I wanted to kill the annoying guy next to me at the time it was so excrutiating!. It was a very sharp pain like a needle being stuck in the muscles behind my eye!. Right now bout 7 hours after that happened it feels like the muscles around my eyes are bruised and realy irritating and still hurts!. I dont want this to happen again because im goin back on a plane this friday and I dont wanna be tortured in a small seat again!. Also im 16!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know how much of this you're familiar with, but basically airliners fly about 30,000 - 35,000 feet in the sky!. There is virtually no oxygen that high!. Mt!. Everest is 29,000 feet high and climbers need oxygen tanks!. So airliners pressurize the cabin, which means they pump oxygen in so that the passengers can breath!. Because everyone adjusts at a different rate, a lot of people will notice their ears popping, sometimes almost painfully!. Yawning a lot will help to equalize your internal pressure with the cabin pressure; so does chewing gum!.

If you fall asleep, you're unable to use corrective measures to equalize your internal pressure, and it takes too long for your body to automatically adjust!. So you feel pain in your ears!. Some people will feel pain behind their eyeballs!. In fact, in rare cases it can almost feel like your eye wants to pop right out!. It won't, though!. In fact, nothing bad will happen to you; it's just excruciating until your body can equalize the pressure!.

For your return trip, take chewing gum with you!. In spite of what some adults might tell you, feel free to chew vigorously!. Fighter pilots use that method almost religiously!. Also try to yawn to get your ears to pop!. Once you're at cruising altitude, you should be okay to nod off!. You might ask the flight attendant to wake you up before final descent so that you can re-equalize your internal pressure again as you're landing!.

But if you do experience it again, don't panic!. As painful as it is, there is nothing wrong with your eyes!. Some people are just more sensitive to pressure changes than others!. I know I am!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Maybe it had something to do with the pressure inside the airplane as you were beginning to descent!. That's the only reason I could link the airplane and your eye pain together!.
Otherwise, the eye pain could be unrelated to the air plane and you should get it checked out!. Maybe look up eye pain on webmd!.comWww@Answer-Health@Com

You might want to see an eye doctor to make sure you didn't get a foreign body in your eye which, can be small and cause pain!. If you did they can usually remove it easily and give you some advice if it is not that!.

Oh, and I would see an Opthamalosgist (MD Doctor) instead of an optimatrist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The pain was caused by the air pressure difference between the plane while landing (higher) and the sinus cavity behind your eyes (lower)!.

You can try using decongestants to open up your Eustachian tubes so the pressure equalizes faster!.

Also try chewing gum and yawning while landing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

seems to be u have been smoking too much weed!.!.!.!.LOL JKJK
hmm interesting!.!.!.maybe a "ghost" was tryna take your eye out!?
or maybe it cuz of the planes height and the pressure and when u closed your eyes to sleeped somehow it put all the pressure inside your eye!.!.!.!.no ideaWww@Answer-Health@Com

Go see an opthamologist--right away--before you get on the plane again!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
