Strange leg injury, what could be the problem?!

Question: Strange leg injury, what could be the problem!?
2 weeks ago I went running after not having ran for quite a long while!. I have a pretty quick pace just walking so my jog was pretty brisk as well!. I jogged for about 1 mile in well under 10 minutes and after a 10 minute break I jogged back!. About half way back I picked my jog up into a run and for the last 1/4 mile I sprinted back with everything I had and then walked it off!.

This was ok, my legs were quite worked and sore which is what I wanted, the next day I jogged for about half a mile with my roomate!. Nothing seemed wrong then either until the following day, 2 days after my 2 mile jog!. My legs weren't just sore anymore, they were to the point were it was almost too much to walk!. I figured I had worked them that good and now I would have to pay for it for a bit!.

I couldn't jog, but I continued to walk about 4 miles a day to keep the blood circulating and such, required since I walk to work!.

Well now two weeks later my legs are no longer sore, at all, whether I'm climbing ladders, walking, lifting, anything, until it comes to jogging!. As soon as I pick up into a jog the muscle right around the shin bone lights up like fire and expands to several noticable points in the calf muscle!. This is immediate and after only jogging a block it absolutely sucks just to walk for a good 10-20 minutes after that and then my legs are just sore thereafter!. The pain seems to really be situated around the shin bone and I'm not sure what I could have done to strain the muscle like it is!. Really I'm on a 4 month schedule to get myself into running shape and don't have time for a drawn out recovery!. Is there any advice as to what it could be and how I can help ease this to help the muscle recover faster!?

I used to run all the time and have never had this happen before!. I'm still in pretty good shape, so its not that I'm out of shape or anything, just not in running shape!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Sounds like shin splints:

"Whether you're running after a soccer ball, jogging around the neighborhood park or training for a marathon, you're at risk of running-related injuries!. One of the most common injuries is shin splints (medial tibial stress syndrome)!.

The term "shin splints" refers to pain along the shinbone (tibia)
