Answers:
They already have medicare and medicaid for seniors!.Comparing health care in the US with that available in England and Canada, that have universal systems, and Mexico, for example, that has a social security system available to employees, I can only say that there is good reason that people today from the world over go to the US for treatment at many renowned medical centers!.

I think universal care would bring down the level of the people that enter the field because the income would be vastly cut from patient fees!. At this time, US Medicare only authorizes about one-quarter of the amount billed for most services!. Other, younger payers are making up the difference!. Many doctors do not accept Medicaid patients because they are not willing to work for peanuts!.

You get what you pay for, but it has to be available!. Good people have to have some financial incentive to spend the years of training required!. The situation we have in the deteriorating quality of public education I think in large part is a result of Universal education!. A big incentive for teachers is a reasonable work day and summer vacations!.

The medical profession has always required extremely long hours, shift work around the clock, and usually very short vacations!. We all expect the best possible treatment, immediately whenever we happen to need it!.

Portable insurance plans and COBRA have been a help with making health insurance more available!. Certainly government oversight of insurance companies makes health coverage more democratic than it might be otherwise!. Perhaps a government health insurance program tied to unemployment insurance might be a good option!.

Red tape means complicated forms and procedures, usually typical of government administration!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The disadvantages could be a horrible system where people fall through the holes and don't get the treatment they need because of red tape!. The other disadvantage could be a country buried in debt from running an inefficient system that costs billions more than it should (like medicare, which is running us broke along with Social security)!. In Canada, yes some people get the care they need!. Other people can be turned away for weeks when they're days away from a heart attack because the wait is so long!. People go for 3rd and 4th opinions when they don't need them because it's free and they can, bogging down the system more!.

The advantages of an efficient, cost effective system would be everyone would get the preventative care they needed, a lower infant mortality rate, a longer average lifespan, and many other obvious benefits!.

The question is not whether a Universal Healthcare system is good or bad, but do you think our government would run the cost-effective, efficient one, or the bloated and inefficient type!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I believe we should have some sort of cap on the medical community!. The amounts being charged are way out of hand!. As for actual nation wide care I am for it as long as it is across the board; I am just afraid those who are working will be paying higher taxes because of the extra cost for health care!.
Red tape: the paper trail that things must go Thur to get approved!.This is my thoughts!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes!.!.!.!. but that will not ever happen!.!. the doctors will not allow it!.!. u see they have a mighty voice in washington!.!. and they wouldnt make the money they are making now if it went full HMO or what u refer to as univeral health care system!. i would love to stand on a "soap box" in washington and tell of the medical cases that when by the way side due to the fact that a person didnt have health care in a country that is so rich in everything else but we cant go to doctor when we dont have ins!. or no money!.!.!.!.!. it needs to come out of our payroll like it is done in england!.!. that still isnt perfect but no one is left behind and without anyWww@Answer-Health@Com

no!. that would mean the u!.s!. has to provide health care for illegal immigrants!. now that the u!.s!. economy is busted we can't afford to pay for those that come into our country with out permission!.-blureyWww@Answer-Health@Com

The advantages are everyone will have health care coverage!. the disadvantages are none!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
