How do I contest a charge from my doctor?!

Question: How do I contest a charge from my doctor!?
It's really not a large amount of money (it's only $20), but my doctor's office sent me a bill for a $20 copay that I know I paid them!. I paid them in cash, and I can't find the receipt they wrote me!. I called the office and left a message, but what can I say so that I don't have to pay them twice!. (and please don't lecture me about keeping receipts!. I do!!.!.!.just not this time)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I have to agree with the first answer!. In my office, unless the amount is over $100, the amount owed is just not enough to bother with!.
If you continually call and pester the office, they might make it a point to hassle you about it because you're becoming a thorn in their side!. But even then, the most they would do would be to "remind" you about it on the next visit!.
If you're a woman of principle, and must prove your innocence, demand to see their receipt records!. If they cannot produce it for you, then raise the suspicion index about the manager possibly pocketing the money!. That ought to quiet him/her down!.

If you know the date you paid the amount your doctor's rooms can look up your payment in their receipt book!. Otherwise you cannot expect them to accept your word of payment if you cannot produce the receipt!. The doctor should have records of all forms of payments made by patients so check with them if you know the date you paid!.

Ask them to check their cash drawer and compare it to their records for those that paid in cash and see if they are $20!.00 over!. If they are not over, and without you having a receipt for having paid, you will have to pay again!. Sorry!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I never pay in cash for this very reason!. The person who took your money could have pocketed it (and yes, it does happen) so without a receipt you may have to pay again and this time use a check or credit card!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

if you know for sure you paid them then just ignore the bill!. you called and told them you paid!. doctors office's make mistakes too!.it would be too expensive for them to do anything about it legally!. so in the end they will stop with the bills!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
