The doctor should have told you this info, and if he hasn't then go back and ask him!. Don't listen to the answers on here, they don't know all the facts about it!. Its usually a slow healing process so don't try and rush it!. Your doctor should also put you in touch with the NHS physio who will help you with the rehabilitation!. Again, if your doctor hasn't done this then go back and ask him to!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
It sounds like you must have also suffered a fracture to the ankle also which will take between 10-12 weeks to heal completely despite the screws etc!. Depending on the type of fracture you will be able to weight bear fully or partially but you should have been given this info!.
As for the ligaments, which would have also been damaged alongside the bone, they will most likely heal at the same rate if not a little slower!. Ligaments have very little blood supply and therefore heal slowly as the blood in a structure is what bring nurtients etc for the structure to heal!.
You should be seen again by your consultant who will refer you to physiotherapy but if you do not have another appointment it is best to discuss your issues with your GP who can also refer to Physio and there you can ask all the questions you need and start your rehab!.
Hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
