Question: I've got the worst tooth ache one of my molars has cracked and i think my nerve is exposed !?
I've got the worst throbbing pain that shoots down my jaw up in to my ear!. I was in tears for a good portion of the night because it hurt so bad!. I did make a dentist appointment for tomorrow morning but what can I do that'll get me through the rest of the day and night!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

Toothaches are horrible I suffer from one daily sometimes 3 to 4 times a day!.!.!.
Here is what works for me!.!.!.
Listerine, the alcohol in it numbs the nerve lots of swishing around!.
Jack Daniels-One shot in mouth swish and then hold it on the side of the mouth that hurts!. Sometimes I hold it for up to 10 minutes, then swallow, the shot of liquor helps numb the pain
orajel-becareful this can also cause more pain if you have to touch the area, you can aggravate the nerve
salt water-barely helps at all but it will clean the area which will prevent the frequency of the toothache returning
masturbation-sounds crazy but the endorphines released block out the pain, (its a scientific fact, look it up)
sleep-sometimes the only thing to do is sleep it off this is where tyenol PM comes in handy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Put a few drops of clove oil on a cotton ball and put it on top of your tooth!.

Oh yeah, also use about 800 mg of ibuprophen orally 3 times a day!. I am not a druggie, but a nurse with a lot of pain background because I work in Oncology!.

Yes that looks to be a definite root problem!. Good thing you called your dentist, because if the root gets infected the infection can actually spread pretty fast!.
Non-prescription pain medication won't do much for this but I assume acetaminophen (tylenol) would be your best bet!.

Call the dentist and see if you can get a prescription for pain meds today!. Orajel can help, a heating pad can help, taking ibuprofen or naproxyn can help, but having had the pain of nerve death,etc, I can assure you that while those measures help, pain medication is the best treatment!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I have had that problem a few months ago!. the pain stopped in August!. I just took a lot of Motrin and rubbed green rubbing alcohol on my gums around the tooth, it works better than any other medicine!. I never went to the dentist!. The pain would only hurt worse whenever I was stressed out!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Call your dentist's office back and advise them of the severity of the pain!. Ask if they will call in a prescription for pain killers!. There is no point in hurting because the dentist is busy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
