Need tetanus shot, doctor closed?!

Question: Need tetanus shot, doctor closed!?
I cut my finger moving old furniture!. Its a narrow slice like cut, but not deep enough for stitches!. I was moving a 30 year old dresser and cut it on the metal track for the drawer!. I haven't the foggiest idea when my last tetanus shot was and probably should get one!. I called my docs office and they're closed til monday!. Can it wait til monday or should I make a pit stop at the ER and get one!?
Also I just had a flu shot on monday and it hurt for 2 days!. how much more does this hurt, cuz I know tetanus shots hurt worse than any!. I'm nervous lol!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It if worries you enough you should probably stop by the Emergency Room!. Even if your wound doesn't need stitching they can bandage and put this skin glue to approximate the wound edges!. A tetanus shot is good for 10 yrs and you probably had one when you entered elementary school, so depending in your age you might be due or coming due for the next one!. If you go to the ER ask them to give you the new TdaP which protects you from Tetanus and Pertussis!. The shot might make your arm sore but remember is only once for 10 yrs :) If you do get it keep your arm moving, go swimming or play sports, this increases the circulation in your arm, you can take some Tylenol or Motrin before to help with future swelling, and apply ice to the site after the injection!. Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

How about a walk in clinic!? I would go to the E!.R!. if that's your only option!. As far as the pain see if they can numb the finger first, I had to have a tetanus shot in my thumb years ago and I believe they numbed it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If your medical group has an Urgent Care Center, I would go there, its faster than a trip to the ER, and has the same copay as a dr visit, the ER copay is high with my HMO!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
