Painful Blister Question?!

Question: Painful Blister Question!?
I got burnt by oil yesterday while cooking lunch!. Now I have a painful blister in it's place and am wondering what I can do to help alleviate the pain!.

I am a stay at home mom with three kids, my youngest being 9 months!. Every time I have to pick up my youngest, or change her diaper, or help my other kids with something, etc the blister absolutely hurts!. BTW, this is the first time I have ever had a blister!

Is there a way to pop the blister!? Would that help!? What are some other home remedies for pain relief!?

Here is a picture of what the blister looks like:

I also have a similar sized blister on my foot, but that doesn't bother me as much!. How long will it take for the blister to go away on it's own!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I had a burn from hot oil that went from my wrist over my entire hand and down my leg the FIRST thing the doctors said was DO NOT pop the blister!.

use cool water to ease the skin from the heat immediately and Do NOT use toothpaste/lard/butter over the blister because toothpaste causes a chemical burn and the other two dont help since they are oils

you should use an antibiotic cream, I didnt take pain medicine but it sure did hurt!.

By the way Alhamdulilah my scarring was very minimal only have a light brown stain on my wrist about an inch long since most of my skin healed without tampering ~the dark spot is where the large blister popped when I rolled over it in my sleep~!.

Since you're a hands on mommy ;) keep a square band aide and antiseptic ointment near by to have it stay moist germ free and covered while it heals in case you accidentally bump it or break the skin while chasing after the kids

the blister will start to heal soon and the liquid will be going away on its own as your body heals itself

****As for the person who gives you the steps on how to pop a blister you should know that burn blisters and out door/fever/splinter blisters are NOT the same and you should leave the bursting of a blister to the professionals in a sterile environment *** By my brother who is a Fire Fighter/Paramedic

here are some directions:

* Cool the burn!. Hold the burned area under cold running water for at least five minutes, or until the pain subsides!. If this is impractical, immerse the burn in cold water or cool it with cold compresses!. Cooling the burn reduces swelling by conducting heat away from the skin!. Don't put ice on the burn!.
* Cover the burn with a sterile gauze bandage!. Don't use fluffy cotton, which may irritate the skin!. Wrap the gauze loosely to avoid putting pressure on burned skin!. Bandaging keeps air off the burned skin, reduces pain and protects blistered skin!.
* Take an over-the-counter pain reliever!. These include aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others), naproxen (Aleve) or acetaminophen (Tylenol, others)!. Never give aspirin to children or teenagers!.

Minor burns usually heal without further treatment!. They may heal with pigment changes, meaning the healed area may be a different color from the surrounding skin!. Watch for signs of infection, such as increased pain, redness, fever, swelling or oozing!. If infection develops, seek medical help!. Avoid re-injuring or tanning if the burns are less than a year old
