I am having surgery to get my tubes tied on tuesday and I have to do an enema kit two days before surgery and have a quick question on how to use it!. Ok it says the day of the surgery to use the rectal enema and to place it in the anus and squeeze the liquid in and then it says not to evacuate until 15 minutes is up!. Does that mean not to remove the bottle or not to poo before the 15 minutes!? It doesn't say in the instructions and my doctor doesn't work on Sundays so I am kinda confused!. Has anyone ever used one and can possible let me know!. Thanks!. Its a Fleet enema Kit # 3 if that helps!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

As I recall the Prep Kit #3 ends with the patient using a bisacodyl
enema on the day of the procedure!. You should try to retain the solution (not the bottle) for 15 minutes!. Good luck with the surgery and retaining the enema as that is a potent little enema!. I would suggest you take it while laying down on your left side with your right leg drawn up toward your chest (sims position) in order have the best hope of retaining it!. Don't worry to much if you don't last the full 15 minutes as it will keep working for a while!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

As a CNA and nursing student, I have had to give several of these (not my fav part of the job, but it must be done) and you need to try not to have a bm for 15 mins, not keep the bottle in for 15 mins!. Good luck on your surg!.

remove the tip of bottle after the bottle is empty!. then just lay where you are until you cant hold the solution in any longer!. i have used the enema bag and bottle and they work fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
After you squeeze the liquid in your rectum, remove the bottle, and hold the liquid (Do not have a bowel movement) for 15 minutes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
