Help me with a major healthcare decision!!?!

Question: Help me with a major healthcare decision!!!?
My husband was in a car accident, he's ok, but it cost $2500 by the time everything was done!. Our insurance started 2 months ago, and the deductible on it is $5000 before they pay anything!. Crap, I know!.

We pay almost $300 a month for insurance, and the hospital wants us to make $500 payments every month until we are paid off!. So for the next 5 months!.

We are honestly thinking of canceling my end of the insurance (DH would only pay $30 to keep his since it's through his company) and using the money we save to pay the stupid medical bills off!.

Here's the catch - I wouldn't be able to sign up with that insurance company again until next July!. So unless I could find other insurance, I'm out of luck!.

However, by the time we pay the bill off, and have $2500 towards our deductible, it will almost be time for the year to be over and OUR DEDUCTIBLE TO START AT $0 AGAIN!!!

I hate health care!.

Do you think it would be financially smart for us to cancel my end of the insurance, take a chance, and at least be able to pay for our bills!? Please be detailed if you have been in a similar situation - questions for me to elaborate welcomed!

Just out of curiosity, why didn't your husband's medical bills from the car accident go to his car insurance!? Your car insurance should cover some medical, even if you only have liability coverage!.!.!.check with your insurance agent on the one, it's different in every state!. As far as your health insurance, you should consider your overall health in order to decide whether or not to cancel your insurance!. May fiancee thought that it would be smart to do that since he generally doesn't go to the doctor, but eventually it caught up to him!. He has a hernia now and needs surgery and still doesn't have insurance!. And the worst part is, many insurances don't cover pre-existing conditions so when he does decide to go back on insurance, they may not cover it anyway!. Not having insurance for 9-10 months may not be that big of a deal!.!.!.unless you need to go to the doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

don't cancel pay what you canWww@Answer-Health@Com

I can't help but I suggest that you listen to Reggie!. She seems to know what she is talking about!.
Don't listen to the people who tell you that you can pay $5!.00 per month!. In some states the hospital can sue you anyway!. And bankruptcy for this amount is not smart!.

Also!. look for a website called hospital victims !.org
They are a free service for advice and help for people in your situation!.

Sorry you are having this problem!. I just turned 60 and got a 40% increase from Blue Cross!. Health insurance sucks and something must me done!.
Please vote for Obama this fall as he may help us!.

You don't say if you live in the states or not!. First of all Hospitals can demand what ever, you need to call the hospitals Social Worker and explain your situation!. Do not cancel your insurance-that's asking for more possible problems!.
Set down with your husband and decide what reasonable amount you can pay!. Did your insurance company not pay for anything!? and if it was someone elses fault why is their insurance company not paying!?!? The bottom line is have you looked at all angles of this!. Also for sure talk to the Social Worker at the hospital-mot hospital have a tendency to push for what they think they can get!. If you are attempting to pay off you bill MONTHLY there is little they can do, if you truely do not have the money!. God Bless ReggieWww@Answer-Health@Com

dont pay the bill and file for bankruptcy!. if you must insist on getting other insurance then go with the site below!. you can also change jobs!. homeland security is hiring and they give you insurance!. various other govt jobs have good benefits!. let me remind you again!. they cant force you to pay your bills!. if you cant pay, then you cant pay!. its as simple as that!. take care of yourself first!. these insurance companies will live even without your payment!. if they dont!. who cares!. they only care about themselves, so why shouldnt you!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Some food for thought - insurance is there "in case you need it"
You never know when you might need it!.
I dont have insurance - had an attack of severe chest pains (I'm a 35 year old woman with no history) and racked up 7 grand of bills in less than 12 hours for an attack of angina!.
He could slip in the tub, suffer a head injury and then have to spend 250,000 on rehabilitation (I''ve seen it happen)
You never know!. Youre lucky you are eligible even though its costing you - a lot of people arent

I dont know about where you live, but here in Michigan, as long as you are sending them $5 a week, they cant put your debt into collections!. Speak to the hospital about a payment plan, keep the insurance!.
After all - who are they to determine how much and how fast you can pay them!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
