Will my GP be automatically informed if I've attended A&E?!

Question: Will my GP be automatically informed if I've attended A&E!?
Answers:
Normally, yes!. But it's done via normal 2nd class post so the notice is unlikely to reach you GP's office for a few days after your visit to A&E!. There's a good chance also that the discharge letter written by the A&E doctor will simply be filed in your notes for future reference unless it contains specific care plan details following your discharge!.

If, for whatever reason you're concerned about what's contained in your notes you can make a written request to see them however it's worth noting that the GP (who is in the eyes of the Information Commisioner, the Data Controller in this case ) is obliged to remove anything from your notes that would be considered to be harmful to your physical and/or mental well-being if you were to see it!. This is more often than not, cross references to your family history and or specific notes regarding care plans, end of life decisions and psychiatric notes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
