I have daily headaches and weekly migraines - I take Vicodin and Midrin (respectively) as well as a boatload of ibuprophen!. However, here are some things that work for me from time to time when I do not have the option, or I do not want to, take additional pills:

Eating in general - eat slow
Eating microwave popcorn - sometimes this has helped with a headache in the past
Hot shower/bath
Cold compress on forehead
Hot/cold compress on back of neck (tension headaches)
Strong cup of coffee - especially when coupled with ibuprofen/acetaminophen (not max amounts, though, as coffee sometimes enhances the effectiveness of the pills you take and therefore has led to a rebound headache)
Drinking soda with your pills instead of water/milk (the caffeine helps the pills work better/faster in my experience)
"Sniffing" cayenne pepper - here's some info on that: http://www!.traditionalwitch!.net/forums/s!.!.!.

Now, these mostly do not follow the herb/vitamin angle, but they have worked for me at various times to relive some of the pain - which, when you're hurting, is all that matters!.

I've also "displaced" the pain temporarily - which is risky because it's actually made me worse at times and I honestly don't know whether there are any medical reasons not to do this!. However, there are these indentions above your eyeball and kind of below your eyebrow - when you press on them, it hurts!. There is the indention above both eyes!. When my head is hurting badly (6+ on pain scale), if I feel it's worth the risk of hurting worse for a minute or so, I'll just apply some pressure to these indentions!. Initially, it'll hurt!. Plus, it'll likely hurt for a few seconds afterwards - but I've found that, when I need relief, this has given it to me time and time again for a very short period of time by displacing the pain!.

This information I'm sharing is as a chronic headache sufferer - I have no medical background - and some of these things may exacerbate your headaches whereas others may help a little bit or even a lot!.

Hopefully this'll give you a few ideas, anyway!.
