How long should it take for my tendonitis to go away after a cortisone shot?!

Question: How long should it take for my tendonitis to go away after a cortisone shot!?
For exactly a month now, ive had this incredibly painful spot on my thumb!. I thought it was a bruise, then it started swelling and turning red!.
The doctor said i had an infection and gave me a HUGE penicillin shot and 10 days of amoxicillin pills!.
After finishing the antibiotic, it had not changed a bit!. I went back to the dr!. yesterday, who then said it was tendonitis!. I got a cortisone shot, but i still dont really feel any difference except for it LOOKS (im not positive) like the redness is going away!.
How long should it take!?

The first thing to do is find another doctor!. Giving you all of these medications and not having results is not a good thing!. Hopefully the cortisone will help but if it doesn't then see a hand specialist or an orthopedist at least!. You don't want any more cortisone shots!. The negative effects of a cortisone injection can last for up to three months! The latest studies are not recommending them except as a last resort!. If it is tendinitis perhaps a course of physical or occupational therapy would benefit you!. The use of ice is also helpful!. Take a large pail or bowl and place a combination of water and ice in it!. Put your hand in the bowl for fifteen to twenty minutes!. Gently keep moving the thumb in the water!. The pain and swelling should decrease!. When the pain leaves start a gentle strengthening program for the thumb!. The use of rubber bands is great for this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It should be feeling better by tomorrow!. If not, inflammation was not your major issue!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
