Can sleep apnea be a contributing factor in?!

Question: Can sleep apnea be a contributing factor in!?
Causing migraines!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
The answer is an emphatic yes! I have had migraines for 27 yrs!. I had to change primary docs when our insurance changed!. Prior to this I had been to 2 neurologists, 3 pain management and a counselor!. I had a spinal cord stimulator implanted for pain control but it had to be removed due to infection!. I was ready to file for disability!. I was having 2-3 migraines a month that would last 1-2 wks!. each!. I lived in my bedroom with the windows foiled and the lights and phone off most of the time!.

My new doc refered me to a pulmonologist and he did a sleep study!. I don't have sleep apnea but I do desaturate, meaning my oxygen level drops when I go to sleep!. The normal level is 92% and above, mine was in the low 80s!. He put me on a constant positive air pressure machine at night!. It didn't correct the problem immediately because I had gone without O2 for so long it took a while for my body to adjust (about 2 months) to not having to fight for O2!. Now I have 1-2 migraines every 3-4 months that last for 1-2 days!. Quite a difference! I have my life back!.

When the brain is deprived of oxygen (or any muscle for that matter) it causes pain!. While most migraines are controlled with medications of one kind or another, there are some that are caused by lack of oxygen!. To find out more about migraines here are a couple of web sites; medicinenet!.com/migraine!.headache and nlm!.nih!.gov/disorders/migraine!.migraine!.!.!.!. I also recommend the following sites for any medical info you might need from symptom checker to indepth disease info that anyone can understand; mayoclinic!.com and webmd!.com

Sorry for the length :) Hope this helps!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
