Swollen ankle... should it be looked at?!

Question: Swollen ankle!.!.!. should it be looked at!?
My boyfriend has a swollen ankle as a result of twisting it awkwardly on a rock as he was running!. It's been a week since then and he refuses to go to a doctor to have it looked at!. I mean, it's really swollen and shows no signs of going down!. I'm more worried about it than he is!. I want him to go to a doctor but he won't!.

What should I do!? Am I overreacting!? Maybe I need to be more patient and see if the swelling goes down!? What do you guys think!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

If it has been a week then he needs to have it looked at!. I just went through the same thing with my husband!. It took me almost a month to get him to the doc!. They did x-rays which were negative for obvious fracture so they did a bone scan and said he had an infection in the bone!. Thank God they were wrong, but it can very easily happen!. Since the feet are the foundation of our bodies, they need to be taken care of!. You don't say if it hurts to walk on it, but even if not I still strongly rec!. going to the doc and getting it checked out!.

For more info on foot injuries go to webmd!.com or mayoclinic!.com Both have excellent info and have symptom checkers that are very easy to use!. Good luck convincing him to go to the doc!. ;)Www@Answer-Health@Com

he should definately get it checked or x-rayed because i recently fractured my ankle as a result of a twist and it was extremely swollen also!. i was reluctant to go to the hospital because i assumed the swelling would go down in time and because it didn't feel like it was broken as i could move it around (with pain)!. when i finally got it x-rayed i found it was in fact fractured and i was then put in a cast for 5 weeks, if he leaves it untreated then it could get worse and by the time it is treated the treatment is likely to take longer!. also longterm damage could be arthritus if left untreated!. make sure that he leaves it elevated at all times as the pressure can really affect the healing process, just prop sum cushions or pillows under the ankle!.
remember ankle fractures are one of the most common because they are so easy to break and they are also mistaken a lot for sprains as the symptoms are almost identical!.!.!.!.so it is best all round to jus get it checked, even if it isn't broken the doctor is likely to be able to help his symptoms!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
