Question: Doese anyone know if Foot drop will go away after surgery on your back!?
I am 20 years old!. I have been dealing with back problems since I was 16 from falling down the stairs!. My back went out in may and the past 2 months My foot has been numb it was hard to lift I would have to take higher steps it was very dificult trying to walk it made me not even want to walk at all!.I seen my back specialist and he told me I had foot drop he set up surgery on the 28th of Oct!. There doing Laminectomy/ Disectomy!. I asked him if it would get better because its really affecting my life!. He didnt really give me alot of detail he said it might or might not!. I have looked all over the net too see if people had recovered from this and cant find anything can anyone give me some advise or anything!? or what the chances are of getting better!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

giving you a direct yes/no answer would be like trying to dig a hole in cement with a plastic spoon, its not possible!. foot drop, in your case, from what you are saying, is most likely nerve damage!. the fact that your symptoms have only been going on for 2 months gives you a better chance of a recovery!. and you can never tell what will come back with nerves!. it may get completely better, may get a little back, or may get nothing back!. i'm a physical therapist and i like to explain nerve damage to my patients like when you have no nerve damage its like driving a car on a straight road, but if you have damage its like trying to drive a car over a road that has a gap in it!. sometimes it just cant be closed, sometimes is can get close and sometimes the damage just cant be reversed!. unfortunately its just a wait and see game!.
