Should I go to the doctor for this?!

Question: Should I go to the doctor for this!?
I rolled my ankle yesterday playing volleyball at work and seeing that it happens alot i figured the pain would eventually go away!. and went ahead and played!. Later that day while I was setting up for a party we were having I had to go upstairs and trying to go up the stairs, the pain became bad (7 or 8 on a scale of 1-10)!. So I called my mom and she brought me up an ace bandage to wrap it with and that seemed to help with the pain a little bit!. So my question is!.!. when I don't have the wrap on I have problems walking on it and moving my foot!. The pain is usually on the inside part of the ankle toward the back!. But there isnt really any swelling or could that be from it being wrapped almost all day!? When should I go to the doctor!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

Going to the dr is a good idea because with an xray they can see if it is a torn ligament or sprain!. If you can go to a sports dr (if you insurance will allow) I have found they can give you the correct diagnosis fast and they give the best advice for healing and strengthening the area so the injury will not return!. If the ankle isn't strengthen, it will continue to give you problems when you exercise or play sports!.

I have son who plays highschool football!. He torn the ligament in his knee and has hurt his ankle in the past!. I'll tell you what we have learned from the drs!.

First, Your ankle doesn't hurt when the ace bandage is on because you are immobilizing it!. That is a good thing!. The bad thing is that you are still moving around and not truly letting the ankle relax and repair itself!.
You need to wrap the ankle, elevate it as much as possible including at night while you sleep and possibly use ice and heat to speed healing!. It could be swollen internally so the ice and heat will help that!.

It can take a week to feel better but if you go back to walking on it and not elevating it and wrapping it, you will find the pain coming back!. My son has found it can take 5-6 weeks to feel totally pain-free!. And this confirms what the drs had told him!.

Around 2 weeks he begins to exercise the injured area!. The school has a physical therapist and a weight room so I can't tell you the exercises you need to do!. He does the exercises 3 times a day and maybe in sets of 5!. If I remember correctly, the ones I have seen him do, they are just normal exercises you would find on line for stretching and toning the ankle area!. You should not work if the pain is above a 2 or 3 but you should go slow and work out faithfully!. After a workout, ice the area and wrap it!.
I know that is a lot of work and that it is difficult if you are an active person to sit wiht your leg up, but it really does work!. If you tore a ligament, you will continue to find your ankle"giving out" and having pain, and then you should go to the dr for sure!.

I agree with Lindsey, where is it that you get paid and can play volleyball at within the same environment!?!

I'm a volleyball player, and I rolled my foot three months ago in a game!. It didn't hurt like crazy and I only limped around for a couple of minutes, so I continued to play!. There was no swelling or bruising, and my coach told me it was a mild foot sprain that should heal within a couple of days to two weeks if I stayed off of it!. So for the following two weeks, I didn't play at all!. But then tryouts rolled along, and I had to get back on my feet!. Even after two weeks, it still hurt, so I probably should've guessed it was more than a foot sprain!. Anyways, two weeks after that, my coach forced me to get a doctor's note before he let me back on the court because my foot kept hurting!. I did go, but got misdiagnosed, and was back on the court within a week!. It's been almost three months now, and my foot still hurts!. It hurts even more than it did!. I used to have athletic wrap on it, which would block out the pain, but then the more I played and walked on my foot, the more pain I felt again!. So I put an ACE bandage over that!. It stopped hurting for awhile, but again, started hurting!. I finally have an appointment scheduled for this Friday with a sports medicine doctor, after talking to a different doctor who thinks I might've damaged my Lisfranc ligament, which would mean me sitting out for a minimum of 6 weeks with crutches and a cast!.

All this might've not happened if I went to a doctor sooner after I injured my foot, or if the doctor I did go to a month later wasn't so clueless!.
I'd recommend going to a doctor as soon as possible!. It's better to be safe than sorry, and you'll only regret it if you go later!. Be safe, and good luck with your ankle! Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would definatly go to the doctor, there are so many tendons and ligaments that you can injure so easily!. Another problem I see is that your ankle is so weak that you can roll it all the time!. Im sure the doctor would have some advice for that too!. I had pain in my elbow and I didn't go the doctor right away and when I finally did they found that I had actually impinged a tendon between my bones and it was slowly tearing (ya, it hurt) so get to the doctor before whatever is wrong gets a little out of hand! Hope this helps!.!.!.!.

*PS!. whats your job that you can play volleyball at!? Just curious!! : ) Www@Answer-Health@Com
